Welcome To The Roaring 20s

This series is a parody of the 2020s — a decade that, for many of us, began with COVID-19. “Welcome To The Roaring 20s” is my personal documentation and observation of the absurdity, chaos, and surreal narratives that defined those early years. It was during this time that the clown — a recurring character in my work — came alive more than ever before. Here, the clown became a symbol of sacrifice and truth, a mirror to a world unraveling in real time.

In creating this series, I tried not to impose my own bias. Instead, I attempted to witness things as they were, in the most honest way I could. These works are populated by exaggerated characters and digitally painted backgrounds. The aesthetic was influenced by the classic Disney cartoon films I returned to during lockdown — which became an unexpected undercurrent of inspiration.

Originally, this series was intended to expand into something much larger — a sprawling, powerful narrative project. But in 2023, like many things in my life, the work changed. It was a difficult year, one that forced shifts in who I was and what I could create. The series came to a halt.

“The Master” is the piece where it ended. Fittingly, it wasn’t finished — and maybe that’s the point. Sometimes, the most honest version of a work is the one that’s left open-ended.
